ABOUT
MJ (J FOR JOY)
MJ Kirsche (she/her/hers) is a writer and performing artist based in Wethersfield, CT. A recent Dean College graduate with her Associate’s degree in Theatre, MJ is a passionate and deep feeling artist who has always felt the call to move others with stories. She finds intense joy in creating, whether onstage or off, and loves giving an audience that “ah-ha” moment of emotion that comes with theatre.
While a devoted performer, MJ is also a practicing writer and loves spending her time writing in any format– songs, short stories, poems, and most notably, plays and musicals. In 2019 , she fully produced her first original play in Hartford, CT, and since then has gone on to have several of her pieces workshopped. In 2022 she was announced as one of four winners of Trinity Rep’s “Write Here! Write Now!” student annual playwriting competition for her short play, Mortal Dilemma, which also played at Dean College later that year. Also at Dean College, MJ’s new play in progress, Bugaboo, received a staged reading in 2024. For the past year, MJ has been active on the team of student bloggers for BroadwayWorlds where she documents her life as an artist.
In her free time, MJ enjoys listening to Jason Mraz, practicing wellness work, pretending she’s dating Peter Parker, and correcting people on what MJ stands for.
